Is file2go free?

Yes. Every tool is free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Files are processed in your browser on your own device and never reach our servers.

Is there a file size limit?

The limit depends on the memory of your device. Files larger than 200 MB show a warning.

Can I use password-protected PDFs?

Not yet. Remove the password with the app that created the file, then try again.

Why can’t I select text after compressing?

Compression saves each page as an optimized image to make the file smaller, so the text becomes part of the picture.

Does file2go work on my phone?

Yes. file2go works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac and Linux.

Is a file2go signature legally valid?

file2go adds a simple electronic signature, which is an image of your signature. That is enough for many everyday documents. It is not a certificate-based digital signature, so for documents that require an advanced or qualified signature, use a certified signature provider.

Does redaction really remove the text?

Yes. Pages with marks are rebuilt as images, so the text under the black boxes no longer exists in the file and cannot be copied or searched.
